Machine Hall, Forshaga Sulphite Works.
Lu the immediate neighbourhood of this sulphite works lies klarafors paper
mili.s, erected in 1891, with 8 beating machines and 4 paper-making machines. The
yearly production is about 10,000—12,000 tons Unglazed, and M. G. k raft pa per and sealings.
During the course of time, both the sulphite works and the paper mills have
been rebuilt and modernized to suit the improved machinery and the new methods of
manufacture that are the results of lengthy experiments, so that, at present, these mills
may be considered as models of what such factories should be.
These works are situated on an island in the Klarälven where, until navigation
is stopped by the ice in winter, the company’s steamers and barges can lie for the
unloading of the necessary supplies, and the shipment of the manufactured products,
for transport to the nearest lake Vänern port.
The factories also lie in the neighbourhood of Skived station (on the
Karlstad-Munkfors Railway) to which an aerial rope way has been made for the transport of
the raw materials and the products that have to be carried by rail.
Deje Sulphate Mill, situated nearly 5 miles farther up the Klarälven, was built
in 1907 and has 8 boilers, and 3 wet machines.
