Vladimir Beekman is a very prolific and creative author and
poet, is adept in translating from the Germanic languages
(particularly Swedish) to Estonian. Vladimir Beekman (b. 1929) was
Chairman of the Estonian SSR Writers' Union for many years as well as
chairman of the Estonian Writers' Union in the early years after the
re-establishment of Estonian independence in 1991. Beekman has been
awarded the prestigious Order of the White Star (4th Class) by the
President of Estonia.
