Arnold Flaten, born May 18, 1900 in Minneapolis, died June 1, 1976 in Northfield. He was a son Norwegian immigrants. His father Nils Flaten was a professor of Romance languages at St. Olaf College. Arnold Flaten studied art in Paris to become a sculptor. The Arnold Hall and Arnold Flaten Art Barn are two buildings at St. Olaf, named after father and son.
